Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnotherapy
What does being in an hypnotic state feel like? Hypnosis is a completely natural state, which everyone experiences several times a day. Any time you daydream - when you are doing something and your mind wanders off to another time or place, or when you are totally focussed - such as watching TV, studying, cooking a meal or driving a car - are everyday examples of natural hypnosis. In this natural state the inward focus of the mind increases so that the subconscious mind becomes more receptive and responsive to positive suggestion and ideas. This is the way you can make positive changes. Hypnosis is not like being asleep or unconscious (a popular misconception) because you are very aware while you are in hypnosis. You are in full control at all times. You can hear the therapist's voice and other sounds, and you can open your eyes and come out of hypnosis at any time. But, when you are so relaxed, you'll probably just want to keep on enjoying the feeling. Hypnosis is like the relaxed mental state we experience between wakefulness and sleep, indicated by the same brain wave patterns as hypnosis. As well as occurring naturally many times each day, hypnosis can be brought about intentionally, usually through focusing exercises and relaxation. You can take yourself into hypnosis (self hypnosis) or seek out a professionally qualified hypnotherapist to assist and guide you. Many clients learn self-hypnosis so that they can take themselves into deep relaxation whenever they choose. It's very easy.. What do I wear/what will I be doing physically? You’ll be in your normal clothing, seated in a chair. Occasionally you might be asked to stand during a process. How do I prepare for my first session? Having a really clear idea of what results you are desiring can be the best preparation for your first session. You might find writing a list is helpful when focussing your mind on what it is you actually want to achieve. For stop-smoking sessions it is prefered that you abstain from smoking for 12 hours before the session. Is it ok if I don’t have a particular objective in mind? It is perfectly ok to come along and allow Aaron to help draw out what may be deeply hidden aspirations. Allow 60-90 minutes per session. This varies greatly from client to client, depending on how much work needs to be done and how much can be integrated at a time. How many sessions will I need? Generally for issue resolution/motivation you will need one to three sessions. Performance Coaching six sessions are required. How frequently will I need sessions? Generally and - depending on the objectives - you will have a first session followed 1-2 weeks later by your second session and then your third session 2-4 weeks after the second, for a three session programme. Generally, for a six session programme, the 4th, 5th and 6th sessions are spaced one month apart after the third session, in a way that fits around your lifestyle. It is important that you make changes and it is even more important that these changes continue to be of benefit to you in your day to day life. This is why I require a commitment from you to show up to sessions you have booked or to give us at least 24 hours notice, otherwise a charge of 50% of the session cost will be charged. For The breakthrough session a deposit is required to secure the session. For the Performance Coaching, all 6 sessions are paid for in advance (saving $80 on the total fee). |
